What Is "Art Comes To The Arc"?

The idea of Art Comes To The Arc was concieved a couple of year's ago when we were looking to improve the feel of our meeting room which is used for trainings, board of director's meeting and like gatherings. It just so happens that we have an excellent artist, Hoover Brandon, that attends one of our programs. His work is fantastic and it was decided to display his work in the room. Well, as a result of that display, one of our job coaches at the time, John Wesolowski arranged for Hoover to have a one man show at a local library. It was a great event and a great experience for the artist! And that is how Art Comes To The Arc started.

My wife and I attended this event at the Camden ARC last year...excellent! It was great to be at an art event and find such a laid back and down to earth atmosphere. We actually purchased two pieces by Hoover Brandon that we have hanging in our apartment. There was a wonderful mix of artistic styles/mediums creatively displayed, as well as great food and music. We are really looking forward to this years show, and even plan on submitting some work! It is all for a great cause and worth checking out!

  2. I love that picture of Hoover standing next to his self-portrait. For several months, his art work was on display in a local public library on a rotating basis for South Jersey residents to enjoy. But it was the "meet the artist night" that I'll remember most watching Hoover signing autographs while visitors admired close to 20 of his originals on display. Yes, it was a great night for Hoover but how many more Hoovers are there throughout the Arc community? If you know of one, encourage him or her to share their work for others to enjoy. I guarantee that your artist (and you) will smile while, at the same time, you continue to nurture the Art Comes To The Arc program.

  3. I was at a "Coffee House" meeting last evening at the OTC. I spoke with a woman who who was at the show art show last year and purchased one of Hoover's works. She said that it hangs in her kitchen and how much she loves it! It's amazing how art touches people.
